Therefore, I recommend always formatting the card, rather than simply moving the image files, each time you want to make a blank card. That is, it locks in a focus point when you partially depress the shutter button (Single-shot mode), but switches automatically to Continuous AF if the subject begins to move. This mode is handy when photographing a subject, such as a child at quiet play, who might move unexpectedly. ■ Continuous AF (AF-C). This mode, sometimes called continuous servo, sets focus when you partially depress the shutter button, but continues to monitor the frame and refocuses if the camera or subject is moved.

In this mode, the Alpha makes all the exposure decisions for you, and will pop up the flash if necessary under low-light conditions. ■ Flash Off. This is the mode to use in museums and other locations where the use of flash is forbidden or inappropriate. It otherwise operates exactly like the Auto setting but disables the pop-up internal flash. ■ SCN. When you turn the mode dial to this setting, the left side of the LCD (or viewfinder) presents you with a menu of scene types to select from. Scroll through this list using the control dial or the direction buttons to choose from among the eight options listed below.
